Lean philosophy involves removing waste from the process to leave just that activity that adds value. All outcomes are focused on reducing costs and lead-times, and increasing out speed to market for new innovations.
Dexion are pleased to extend an invitation to all Western Sydney Manufacturers to visit their 33,500 square meter manufacturing facility in Kings Park, Sydney.
Dexion is the leading supplier of commercial workspaces, integrated systems and industrial storage solutions across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
The Kings Park site manufactures Dexion’s entire Australian pallet racking requirements.
About 25,000 tonnes of material are processed per annum, while the operation employs the equivalent of 135,000 man-hours each year.
Manufacturing hours are split between;
- 26% Roll forming (Beams and Uprights) and Press Shop
- 34% Manual, Auto & Robotic Welding
- 40% Wetline and Powderline Painting
Yet despite the scale of the operation, a program of continual improvement at the plant has meant that customer satisfaction runs at greater than 95%.
Following substantial growth, the Kings Park site adopted a Lean Manufacturing strategy. On the tour of the facility members can see the ‘5S’ system of workplace organisation (refined by Toyota in Japan) in action.
Members will also visit the Comino Research Centre, a dedicated research and training centre that dramatically increases the ‘speed-to-market’ for new products.
The Centre is a first for the Australian industry and supports Dexion's desire to show its customers a total and long term commitment to the development of the safest and most innovative storage solutions.
