Two terminals less efficient

Qube Logistics chairman, Chris Corrigan, has accused the federal government of wasting $560 million relocating a Defence Department facility from a proposed freight hub, at Moorebank, when the privately-owned, SIMTA, pushes ahead with a rival plan across the road. “A series of competing terminals is far less efficient than a single terminal operation,” he said in The Australian Financial Review.

It is expected that from 28 May 2012, a new 'National Business Names Registration Service' to be administered by ASIC will replace the current State/Territory based registration systems meaning businesses will register a business name(s) on a single national register.  Businesses should make themselves aware of the rules that will apply and what they should do get themselves ready.  Most importantly businesses should ensure that they are properly and accurately registered before the commencement of the new national system to take advantage of the grandfathering rules applicable to transferred names.
